Secondary Program

Secondary Overview

HASIS secondary serves students in grades 7 to 12. All students follow Cambridge Checkpoint, Arabic, Islamic and Social studies and the HASIS International Middle Years Curriculum between grades 6-8. Students then progress at Grade 9 into IGCSE’s, and at the end of Grade 10 options are considered for the Ministry of Education approved GED courses which are examined at the end of Grade 12. These important studies inform outcomes that provide the foundation for progression to university.

Grade 7 to Grade 8 The HASIS Curriculum

Grades 7 and 8, our Lower Secondary classes, follow Omani and Cambridge curriculums.

The Omani Curriculum
Our Omani students complete the Omani Curriculum and designed by the Ministry of Education. The subjects are taught by Arabic teachers and covered include:

  • Arabic
  • Islamic
  • Social Studies

The Cambridge Curriculum
The Cambridge Curriculum is offered to expatriate non-arabic students and non-muslim students. These subjects are taught by qualified English-speaking teachers and prepare the students for a pathway to the IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10 and onto A Levels in Grade 11 and 12.

Grade 9 – 10

Students entering Grade 9 have two pathways. The Omani Curriculum pathway and the Cambridge IGCSE Pathway.

General Education Diploma
The Omani Ministry of Education offers the General Bilingual Education Diploma pathway. This starts in Grade 9 and culminates in Grade 12 where students graduate with a General Education Diploma for Bilingual Education which enables students to apply to local and international tertiary education providers. This program is a bi-lingual program and is taught by qualified Arabic and English teachers.

Cambridge IGCSE
In the Upper Secondary students are offered the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) which is the world's most popular international qualification for 14–16-year olds. It develops successful students by giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education and the step toward University with A Levels, and this phase also equips them with skills for immediate employment.

The Cambridge IGCSE is recognized by universities and employers worldwide, which is an internationally based curriculum, allowing teaching to be placed in a localized context and making learning relevant in different regions. It is also suitable for students whose first language may not be English, and this is acknowledged throughout the examination process. Grade 11 to 12 Omani Curriculum General Bilingual Education Diploma

The General Education Diploma (GED) program spans grades 11 & 12. It is overseen by the Ministry of Education in Oman and provides students with a broad range of subjects which gives them access to Universities in the Sultanate of Oman and beyond.

Grade 11 to 12 A Levels
